Marathi Bride Haldi | San Jose

The Haldi ceremony is a significant and joyous pre-wedding ritual in Indian weddings, cherished for its cultural importance. Typically, the Haldi ceremony is held a day or two before the wedding festivities commence. Traditionally, the Haldi Ceremony involves the application of a vibrant turmeric paste to the skin of both the bride and groom. This cherished ritual is believed to purify, bless, and bring good fortune to the couple as they embark on their marital journey together. The yellow color of turmeric symbolizes prosperity, happiness, and positivity, making it a key element in this beautiful and revered tradition. Pallavi and Soham had their Haldi events arranged separately, so our dedicated team decided to split up in order to cover these two vibrant celebrations happening simultaneously. In addition to the turmeric paste, Vicco Turmeric cream is often incorporated, which, although beneficial, can sometimes leave a yellow stain on the skin. To mitigate this, families often use Vicco Turmeric Ayurvedic cream on the skin. Everyone was initially asked to place small dots of the paste only, instead of smearing it all over, and the rules were adhered to for a short time. However, Pallavi’s sister playfully broke this rule by applying a giant dollop on her own face, setting off a cascade of turmeric cream that ultimately found its way onto the bride’s face and her friends and family as well, creating a delightful mess. The evening culminated beautifully with a joyful flower shower celebrating the bride.
