Upanayanam | The Club at CastleWood
Vishruth’s upanayanam celebration was a two day event. They had a sundowner party the previous day, read the blog and see the photos here.
We started with decor shots and had a few mins of portraits so we got some quick photos before the ceremony.
Upanayan also known as the 'sacred thread ceremony' is performed to mark the commencement of formal education in the Vedic tradition. It is an initiation process to learn the sacred Gayatri Mantra, holiest of all mantras. The ceremony marks the second birth of the child in the world of knowledge. After the ceremony, the chid/youth/teenager is called 'dwij' meaning twice born. Sacred thread is cotton, handmade 3 strings tied in a loop.
All the details of the ceremony were photographed, the day ended with lunch and a outfit change for a photoshoot.
