Upanayanam/Var Pooja Ceremony Photos

Thread ceremony or Upanayana is the sacred thread/janavara or Janeu worn by Hindus following a series of rituals. It is usually performed when boys are teenagers, however sometimes this ritual is done much later when a man plans to get married. Hindu marriage cannot be performed without the upanayanam.

This ceremony ends the Brahmacharya(Bachelor) stage of the groom and the start of a new phase - Grihastha(married life).

This was day 3 of pre-wedding events for Badri and Depali.

We got photos of all the rituals, portraits of the couple and family. The day ended with delicious south indian lunch in a plate made by Patra leaves.
